Dividend summary – April 2016

Looking at dividends received though the month and summarizing the numbers at the end of the month is such a great feeling because dividends represent real tangible income. So let’s take a look at the dividends received in April 2016.

After hitting an all time high of $410+ in March 2016, I knew April was going to be lower. April 2016 turned out to be another great month with a total of $317.80, which was slightly higher than January 2016 numbers. Let’s dive into more details about the month’s dividends.

Sharebuilder Purchase – 5/3/2016

Here are my sharebuilder automatic investments this week (5/3/2016).

  • BBL – 3.8806 shares@25.769 ($100)
  • PFE – 5.8934 shares@33.9365 ($200) (new position)

I invested a total of $300.

BBL continues to be a speculative buy, though the stock is back to low $20s. I also initiated a new position in Pfizer (PFE). It is a stock that I have been looking at for a while now and using the monthly purchases to build a position slowly.

I want to add to my other positions like PEP and KO, but would like for KO to drop ~40s and PEP to ~90s to start adding these again.

This week’s purchases add $9.55 to my annual dividends. This results in 3.18% yield.

These purchases increase my total annual projected dividends to $3,365.25.

Dividend summary – March 2016

Looking at dividends received though the month and summarizing the numbers at the end of the month is such a great feeling because dividends represent real tangible income.

The 3rd month of the quarter is typically the best month for me. So naturally, I was looking forward for March dividends, but with low expectations due to the recent dividend cuts. But it ended up being a great month and an all time high surpassing the $400 mark. Let’s take a look at the dividends received in March 2016.

Portfolio update – March 2016

At the end of March 2016, my portfolio stood at $113,788.55 across all my accounts combined. Comparing to my portfolio balance of $104,962.94 at the end of February 2016, this represents an increase of $8,825.61 for the month of March which represents a 8.41% increase for the month.

New investments accounted for $1,500.00 thus giving a net increase of $7,325.61 that represents a 6.98% increase for the month.

I continued my weekly sharebuilder purchases in March. I did not have any other purchases.

Sharebuilder Purchase – 3/29/2016

Here are my sharebuilder automatic investments this week (3/29/2016).

  • BBL – 4.6298 shares@21.599 ($100)
  • DIS – 1.0248 shares@97.5778 ($100)
  • WFC – 2.0800 shares@48.0769 ($100)

I invested a total of $300.

BBL continues to be a speculative buy. I am hoping that the stock is bottomed out and with the dividend cut out of the way, the stock can stabilize and might go up in the long run. Therefore, the plan is to average down a bit. In the meantime, I “hope” to collect dividends at around 2.5%. Let’s see how this plays out.

I want to add to my other positions like PEP and KO, but would like for KO to drop ~40s and PEP to ~90s to start adding these again.

This week’s purchases add $7.53 to my annual dividends. This results in 2.51% yield.

These purchases increase my total annual projected dividends to $3,290.85.
